www.medstores.net Zovirax (Acyclovir) is one of the most commonly-used antiviral drugs, it is primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, as well as in the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles). Aciclovir was seen as the start of a new era in antiviral therapy, as it is extremely selective and low in cytotoxicity. Pharmacologist Gertrude B. Elion was awarded the 1988 Nobel Prize in Medicine, partly for the development of aciclovir. Dr. Richard Whitley, a University of Alabama at Birmingham researcher and pioneer in antiviral therapy, was the first to successfully use the drug in humans. Aciclovir is active against most known species in the herpes virus family. Aciclovir is commonly marketed as tablets (200 mg, 400 mg, 800 mg and 1 gram), topical cream (5%), intravenous injection (25 mg and ophthalmic ointment (3%). Cream preparations are used primarily for labial herpes simplex. The intravenous injection is used when high concentrations of aciclovir are required. The ophthalmic ointment preparation is only used for herpes simplex keratitis. In Singapore, it is available as a 400 mg preparation known as Avorax.

The cold sore herpes virus will cause mass destruction when and where this virus gets the chance to do so.

In a minute you will know why this virus causes so much damage. You will learn what you can do to prevent it from happening to you or loved ones. Yes. In spite of what you might have heard, your painfully embarrassing cold sores can be prevented. It really is not that hard or expensive.

There are eight different types of herpes viruses. The cold sore herpes virus most often responsible for a cold sore is the herpes simplex type 1. The type 2 version causes about 20% of cold sores. It does not really matter. The cold sores are identical in looks, pain, and healing time.

Is it not true? Cold sores seem to come at the worst of times. Some of the most common trigger events are weddings, dates and job interviews. These are particularly stressful events. Cold sore outbreaks will often take place whenever there is some physical or mental stress. Mental stress will always affect you physically, even if you do not notice it at the time. Quite likely, if you backtrack from your outbreak, you will find a stress trigger occurred two or three days prior.

The cold sore herpes virus is a sub-microscopic living particle. It is so tiny that it can hide inside your nerve cells. When latent, the virus will hide in the nerve fibers near your ear. Scientists recently discovered that, when hiding, the herpes virus can shut down nearly all function. This makes the virus all but invisible to even our own body defenses. This is also the reason medical science has not yet found any way to remove cold sore herpes from your system.

When the virus senses the conditions are right, it moves quickly. It will travel through the nerve fibers like a highway to the surface target area. It is this travel along the nerve that you feel just prior to an outbreak. This virus movement will produce an itching, burning or dryness sensation at the target location. From the time of the first itching to actual blister formation could be two hours or two days.

The only reason the cold sore herpes virus becomes active is to create new virus. It cannot reproduce itself, like bacteria. The herpes virus, once it gets to the surface, will enter a nerve cell. It will then take control and force the cell to make perfect clones of itself. Once the cell is filled to capacity, the original virus then explodes the nerve cell. The fresh virus clones spill out looking for a new home. When millions of neighboring cells are destroyed like this, you have an open cold sore ulcer. Your healing system then creates a fluid to cleanse the now open wound and wash away the new viruses.

What are the right conditions that encourage the cold sore herpes virus to become active? Living in the nerve cells, the herpes virus surely has an early warning system to any condition of your body.

Stress causes changes in our immune system, hormones, bodily functions and pH balance. A person who is in excellent physical health can take a lot more stress changes before cold sores occur. If you get frequent cold sores, or colds, you really should analyze your nutritional intake. Many folks have eliminated cold sore herpes events by merely taking a good vitamin supplement program. Some other nutritional improvements to prevent cold sores could be more fresh vegetables, particularly broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. Also, increasing lysine intake by eating fish or taking a supplement has helped many.

The one trick that others use to prevent cold sore herpes outbreaks is to apply ice, or garlic oil, to the target area immediately at the first sign of itching or dryness. The coldness acts to repel the herpes virus and often send it back into hibernation. The garlic oil is excellent for repelling herpes virus. It may also help repel people, which may not be all that bad. You may be contagious during this period, so avoid kissing.

Now you know how this virus is so destructive. And you have seen those ideal conditions for the herpes virus are low immunity, and a low pH balance. You have also learned that the herpes virus hates cold and garlic. Armed with this information, you should now have a good start at preventing the mass destruction of cold sore herpes.

Cold sores, fever blisters, oral herpes are 3 names for the same thing – a blister or sore on the face – normally occurring on the outer edge of your lip or nose.

“Cold sores” is the most common term used for these hideous, painful and contagious facial sores. Herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2 are the root cause of cold sores. About 80% of cold sores are caused by type 1. Type 2, although primarily the cause of genital herpes sores, is responsible for about 20% of facial cold sores.

Cold sores are “location specific”, occurring in roughly the same place each time. The herpes virus is normally latent, or asleep, in the nerve ganglia behind the jaw on the same side of your face as your cold sores occur. Fortunately herpes virus does not travel internally to infect other locations – but stays put in the area where first contracted.

These sores, when in full blossom, look like a hideous explosion on you lip or nose. Fact is – that is pretty close to how they are actually formed.

If you’re a science fiction fan like me, you’ll notice that a lot of these shows are based on the idea of alien creatures using humans to reproduce. The alien creature “infects” the human body with their seed. When the young are ready for birth, the human host is destroyed to release the new alien creatures. The herpes virus replicates in the same way.

Cold sores are the result of the reproduction process of the herpes virus. This virus, unlike bacteria, cannot reproduce on it’s own but must have a host. A single herpes virus enters one of your cells and forces that cell to create, or clone, copies of itself.

The original virus then destroys the host cell to release it’s young. This “explosion” of millions of cells in a close area produces the open and painful sore.

Cold sores are very painful because the herpes virus has a particular affinity for nerve cells. Herpes virus travels the nerve fibers like a highway to the surface and create the cold sores on the end of those nerves.

If you’ve ever had a dentist hit the end of a nerve while drilling – well, it’s pretty much the same feeling when your teeth or finger bumps your sore.

These outbreaks are very contagious from the first tingle to the last red spot. Even your saliva and nasal fluids (and on rare occasions even vaginal fluids) can contain the herpes virus at this time.

As a result, nearly 89% of the world population is infected with type 1 or 2 herpes virus.

Touching your sores, or kissing, can cause a new active site on yourself – or someone else. Contaminated fingers can also transfer the virus to objects such as telephones, faucets, and towels. The virus can live on these objects for days under the right conditions.

Use extreme caution, especially during the weeping and crusting phases.

Symptoms begin with a tingling, dryness sensation, burning, and/or itching. Your sores then progress to these stages: a group of tiny blisters form, enlarge, and burst to create one large open sore. In 2 or 3 days a crust forms over this open, weeping sore and the healing begins.

The skin heals, the crust falls off, but there is still healing going on below the new skin – which leaves a red spot for up to 2 more weeks before they are considered totally healed.

The entire event for most people averages 3 to 4 weeks – depending on their current health and on the treatments these folks used during the various stages of the cold sores.

There is nothing currently available from medical science or natural science that will eliminate the herpes virus from your body. If you want to be cold sore free for life – the secret you must know is keeping the virus asleep.

And the good news is that there are now many natural home cold sore remedies that you can discover and try.

We all know that without any treatment, the body will cure your cold sore through it’s own natural healing process. But it is a very slow process that you can easily speed up with the use of some good cold sore treatment methods.

Yes – you no longer need to be a cold sore victim!

For the latest about cold sores and how to cure them, visit Denny Bodoh’s excellent web-site. It is loaded with great info about Cold Sores. You will get amazing cold sore treatment tactics you can start using immediately.
