It affects most people on one or more occasions during their lives. There are two main types of herpes simplex virus (HSV), although there is considerable overlap. Type 1, which is mainly associated with facial infections (cold sores or fever blisters) Type 2, which is mainly genital (genital herpes) Both type 1 and type 2 herpes simplex viruses reside in a latent state in the nerves which supply sensation to the skin. During an attack, the virus grows down the nerves and out into the skin or mucous membranes where it multiplies, causing the clinical lesion. After each attack it ‘dies back’ up the nerve fibre and enters the resting state again. First or primary attacks of Type 1 infections occur mainly in infants and young children, which are usually mild or subclinical. In crowded, underdeveloped areas of the world up to 100% of children have been infected by the age of 5. In higher socioeconomic groups the incidence is lower, for example less than half of university entrants in Britain have been infected. Type 2 infections occur mainly after puberty, often transmitted sexually. The initial infection more commonly causes symptoms. How do you get the infection? The infection can be passed on from someone else with an active infection and it can also be passed on from individuals without symptoms. The virus is shed in saliva and genital …

www.medstores.net Zovirax (Acyclovir) is one of the most commonly-used antiviral drugs, it is primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, as well as in the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles). Aciclovir was seen as the start of a new era in antiviral therapy, as it is extremely selective and low in cytotoxicity. Pharmacologist Gertrude B. Elion was awarded the 1988 Nobel Prize in Medicine, partly for the development of aciclovir. Dr. Richard Whitley, a University of Alabama at Birmingham researcher and pioneer in antiviral therapy, was the first to successfully use the drug in humans. Aciclovir is active against most known species in the herpes virus family. Aciclovir is commonly marketed as tablets (200 mg, 400 mg, 800 mg and 1 gram), topical cream (5%), intravenous injection (25 mg and ophthalmic ointment (3%). Cream preparations are used primarily for labial herpes simplex. The intravenous injection is used when high concentrations of aciclovir are required. The ophthalmic ointment preparation is only used for herpes simplex keratitis. In Singapore, it is available as a 400 mg preparation known as Avorax.

Cold sore relief is on the minds of millions of sufferers at any given time.

Some treatments are quick, easy and work great. But there are many remedies that are a big waste of money when you need cold sore relief.

Do not spend another penny on some miracle cold sore relief product until you try these exceptional home remedies for cold sores.

Are you seeking fast cold sore relief for an immediate problem?

If so, you first need to eliminate, or at least reduce, that stinging pain. Then you want to get rid of your sore as quickly as possible.

Cold sores form on the end of nerve fibers by the replication action of the herpes virus. This will cause swelling of both the sore area and nearby lymph nodes. You may also notice a slight fever and some possible headache action.

Most people start out by taking a pain and fever reducer such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or similar product. This will help to reduce fever and pain and give a small measure of cold sore relief.

Next – application of ice will help reduce pain, fever and swelling very quickly. Ice also slows down – or even stops – the herpes virus reproduction process.

Ice is great for cold sore relief, but not always convenient to use – such as at work, driving or shopping. When the use of ice is not convenient for you, you may want to try a drug store comfort remedy for cold sores. Choose salves that offer pain deadening benzocaine or lidocaine.

These products will give some cold sore relief from the pain – by deadening the nerve endings. And they usually have ingredients that will protect your sore from bacterial infection. In spite of claims, however, they generally do not reduce fever, swelling or speed healing by any measurable degree. Consider them comfort treatments only and expect no more than that.

Ice is one of the best for relieving pain and reducing heat and fever. Unfortunately, during the healing phase – after the sore has burst open – ice will slow down healing by driving blood away from the area. Once your cold sores begin their healing phase, application of warmth gives the greatest cold sore relief and effectively speeds healing.

A hot wash cloth will work fine. However, many people find a warm tea bag works better. There are some powerful healing nutrients in the tea that provide great cold sore relief. It is extremely important, while in the healing stages, to keep the sore clean by sterilizing with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Use throwaway cotton balls or paper towels for this purpose. Also, apply olive or oregano oil to keep the scab soft.

Once your sore is healed, you will want to take steps to prevent, or reduce, future outbreaks of cold sores.

Many people infected with the herpes virus do not suffer cold sores because their immune system prevents it. If you get more than one cold sore a year, you may want to try the following. A good quality vitamin supplement is all many people need to reduce or prevent the frequent appearance of cold sores.

Do not buy grocery store vitamins – the one or two per day variety. Go to a good vitamin store or go on-line. A good, complete formula will require at least four to six capsules per day to provide the proper quantities of essential nutrients. Specifically, the vitamins and minerals you want in large quantities are beta-carotene, vitamins B, C, and E, calcium, magnesium and zinc.

Dealing with existing cold sores calls for the application of ice at the start, and then warm tea bags during the healing phase. Continuous cleansing of the sore with alcohol will speed healing also. Keep the crust well oiled for additional comfort.

If you want to prevent future cold sores, you must improve your immunity. Making proper food choices is a start. And, maybe, a high quality vitamin and mineral program is all you will need for a lifetime of cold sore relief.

Don’t buy another cold sore remedy before you check out Denny Bodoh’s updated information on Cold sore. He will give you some clear, powerful and proven Cold Sore remedies and cures for immediate results.

Is getting rid of cold sores an acute desire for you? If so, by the time you are done reading this article, you will know exactly how to get rid of cold sores in your life.

If getting rid of cold sores for you means healing a current cold sore fast, or preventing cold sores before they can occur, this article will help. The key to success is deactivating the herpes virus. Keeping it in this dormant stage will prevent future cold sores.

The herpes simplex virus normally is latent. It is hiding in the nerve cells near where the outbreaks occur. No matter what you hear there is no proven way to actually remove this herpes virus from your body. Fact is, even if there was a way, you would quickly catch it again. Why? Because nearly everyone in the world – estimated around 91% – carries the cold sore virus.

Getting rid of cold sores is really an easy three-step process. 1. Destroy as much virus as possible. 2. Make the cold sore area uncomfortable for the virus. 3. Heal the cold sore damage as quickly as possible.

Alcohol is the universal germ killer. It can sting but is ideal for destroying cold sore virus. If you use bottled alcohol, apply with a cotton ball. Pre-packaged alcohol swabs are available and most convenient. One down side – alcohol has to be applied frequently. A cold sore treatment that will kill viruses but lasts longer between applications, are oils such as oregano or garlic oil. Both work great, feel good and last a long time. Oregano smells better in public.

Making the area unfriendly to the cold sore virus is as simple as applying ice or any cold object. The herpes virus hates cold and will retreat from it.

Finally, applying some fresh (from a plant leaf) Aloe Vera gel on the sore will speed healing dramatically.

Getting rid of cold sores for good will take an on-going focus on your part. Here are a couple of ways other cold sore sufferers have used to prevent cold sores from taking place.

Truth be told, many folks get rid of cold sores merely by adding a good vitamin-mineral supplement to their daily diet. First, this helps boost your immune system giving you greater resistance to viral type illnesses. Second, minerals such as calcium, magnesium and zinc help keep your body more alkaline. This is especially important under stress conditions that normally turn the body acid. The cold sore virus cannot get any traction in an alkaline environment.

If you have had more than one cold sore event in your life, you are probably aware of these early symptoms. Just before the cold sore appears, the target area will start to feel uncomfortable – itching, burning, dryness. This may last two hours to two days. You can stop the cold sore in its tracks. Just apply the right cold sore treatment during this time. The simplest and most convenient is to apply ice quickly and often. You will either delay the cold sore or send the herpes virus back into hibernation.

There are a variety of cold sore remedies available at your local stores. For the most part, these are comfort remedies. They have not been proven to shorten the cold sore event by more than a few days. But, comfort is important too. Look for products with a numbing agent for reducing pain, and an anti-bacterial to prevent a secondary bacterial infection.

Getting rid of cold sores can be as simple as taking a daily vitamin supplement. Or it may take more effort by following an alkaline enhancing diet or trying different topical treatments.

You are different. You are unique. Finding the correct cold sore remedy that will work best for you may take a little trial and error on your part. But if you are determined, and start applying the suggestions mentioned here, you may soon find yourself permanently getting rid of cold sores.

In biblical times, people with any contagious disease, such as leprosy, were required to continually ring a bell and shout “Unclean - Unclean - Unclean” while passing through public areas.

This was not good for their social life.

Well, as cold sore sufferers today, we don’t have to ring a bell.

That ugly painful cold sore does the “SHOUTING” for us!

I suspect you’re as fed up with the embarrassment and pain as I was. On average, I would get about 3 to 4 cold sores per year – each cold sore lasting about 4 weeks, start to finish.

That’s over 3 months a year of being seen as “socially unclean” – (at least behind my back!)

Sound familiar?

Yes - I tried all the “miracle” cold sore remedies and prescription drugs. Most made no difference at all. At best, it would shorten the duration of the cold sore a few days – maybe a week.

(You should be alert too, that the prescription cold sore stuff can damage your liver.)

Well, I’d pretty much all but given up on these cold sores, When by pure chance I met the talented Grace Melgarejo.

And, if you would like to put an end to your COLD SORE right now, I’d like to introduce you to her.

——————————-

I met Grace while I was speaking at a natural health seminar at the University in Madison, Wisconsin in March of 2004.

And, you know how it goes, I had a huge cold sore in full “bloom” the day of my talk. Good grief, it looked like it covered half my face.

Cold sores always seem to show up at the absolute worst times don’t they? Weddings, dates, vacations, and job interviews?

While eating breakfast, I bit it – OUCH – that just about put me on the floor! I’m just not a big fan of pain – and herpes cold sores are PURE PAIN aren’t they?!

—————————————————————————————————

Do you know why cold sores are so painful?

The cold sore virus lives in nerve cells and travels through nerve fibers to the surface.

As part of their replication process, they build the cold sore right on the end of a nerve.

That’s why the pain is similar to the dentist hitting a nerve.
Read More Click Here ……

—————————————————————————————————

After my speech, at the noon luncheon, Grace came to my table and introduced herself - told me she enjoyed my talk but that she noticed my cold sore problem.

Cold Sores and Fever Blisters have been a blight on the human face for over 2000 years. They have been, and still are, a worldwide epidemic. Historically, the ancient Romans were cursed with them too. In fact, they had such an outbreak of cold sores and fever blisters going on in Rome, the emperor banished kissing in public ceremonies. Today, it is estimated that nine out of every ten men, women and children over seven are infected with the virus that causes these unsightly blisters.

By the time you finish reading this short article, you will know the what, why and how of cold sores and fever blisters. You will learn the one thing you must avoid to prevent permanent damage to yourself or someone else when treating a cold sore. Finally, you will discover how to heal them and prevent future outbreaks.

Some folks call them cold sores. Others refer to them as fever blisters. Truth is, they are two different names for the same exact thing. They both are an oral herpes outbreak. Cold sores and fever blisters most commonly occur during or after physical stress such as colds (cold sore) and flu (fever blister). And that is how they got their names. Cold sores are the most common term used for these blisters.

The root cause of these hideous and painful blisters is the herpes simplex virus, type 1 or type 2. We all have various viruses in our bodies at any given time. Most, like cold and flu viruses, eventually disappear. This is not true with the herpes virus. This virus will likely stay with you your entire life. Fortunately, the fever blisters and cold sores oral herpes virus is normally latent. Nearly a third of all those infected will never get an outbreak. They will never even know they carry the herpes virus. The other two-thirds of us will get one or more fever blisters per year.

Cold Sores and fever blisters are dangerously contagious.

During an outbreak, you can easily spread the virus to someone else. You can easily spread cold sores to other areas of your body, such as your eyes. Fever blisters on the cornea can cause permanent damage or blindness. Avoid the itching temptation to touch the sore with your bare fingers. Constantly clean with alcohol on cotton balls or swabs. Coat them with a virus killing oil such as garlic or oregano oil. Don’t be kissing anyone, anywhere.

How frequent and severe your cold sores depend greatly on your physical condition. It depends on the strength of your immune system. There are several easy ways others have used to quickly heal and prevent cold sores and fever blisters.

Lysine is a popular natural remedy for the herpes virus. It works quite well at a dosage of 1000 to 3000 mg. per day during the event. Those who get frequent blisters often do well taking a daily maintenance dosage of 500 mg. If you can get by without the maintenance dosage you might be better off. Studies have shown that the body may develop a tolerance to lysine.

Every person who is prone to cold sores and fever blisters should be taking a good quality multi-vitamin. This is critical today for a high level of health. It helps to reduce the effects of stress and give you a stronger immunity. And by good quality I do not mean the drug store one or two-per-day junk vitamin pills. They do not contain enough nutrients for your body to notice. And, they often do not dissolve during digestion. I have personally seen them in bedpans. You could still read the brand name on them.

Quite honestly, you will get more nutrition from two ounces of broccoli. Go to a vitamin store or check on-line. Expect dosages of six capsules or three large tablets per day. Better yet, dosage packets are becoming real popular today. That is what I am currently using.

Should the oral herpes virus break through the immune sentries, and you start to feel a burning or itching sensation on your lip or nose, get some ice or something cold on it immediately. This will often send the virus back into hibernation. Herpes simplex virus does not like cold. Acting quickly with the ice is an easy and proven way many cold sore victims use to prevent cold sores and fever blisters.
